Introduction to Oxidation Ditch Process  

As a mature activated sludge wastewater treatment process, the oxidation ditch process has been widely used nationwide. It is a variant of the activated sludge process. Its aeration tank is a closed ditch type, so it is in a hydraulic flow state. Different from the traditional activated sludge method, it is a circular flow aeration ditch connected end to end, into which sewage is purified.


Process characteristics:

1. Simplified preprocessing  

The hydraulic retention time and sludge age of the oxidation ditch are higher than those of ordinary biological treatment plants. The suspended organic matter and the dissolved organic matter can be removed more thoroughly at the same time. The mud does not require anaerobic digestion.

2. Less floor space 

Because the primary sedimentation tank, sludge digestion tank, and sometimes the secondary sedimentation tank and sludge return device are omitted in the process, the total area of the sewage plant is not only not increased, but can be reduced on the contrary.

3. It has the characteristics of a push flow pattern 

The oxidation ditch has the characteristics of pushing flow, so that the dissolved oxygen concentration forms a concentration gradient along the length of the pond, forming aerobic, anoxic and anaerobic conditions. Through reasonable design and control of the system, a better effect of nitrogen and phosphorus removal can be achieved.

4. Simplify the process 

Combining the oxidation ditch and the secondary sedimentation tank into an integrated oxidation ditch, as well as the alternately working oxidation ditch developed in recent years, can eliminate the secondary sedimentation tank, thereby simplifying the treatment process.
